Amy Hoban, RN

Amy Hoban completed nursing school at the University of Illinois and then went on to complete her masters in nursing in healthcare administration. She has been employed at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas since 2004. She began her career at Sunrise as a nurse in the adult emergency department. She worked as a member of the core trauma team. She transitioned to work with the Nevada Neurosciences Institute in 2008 as the stroke coordinator for Sunrise Hospital where she lead the existing Joint Commission certified stroke center to award level through the American Heart & Stroke Association. Under Amy’s management, the stroke program at Sunrise was recognized at the International Stroke Conference in 2009 with a Gold Award and at the 2010 Conference with a Gold Plus Award. Amy then moved on to become the stroke program manager for Sunrise Health System in Las Vegas and implemented stroke programs at Southern Hills and MountainView Hospitals. Both hospitals passed their Joint Commission certification to become Primary Stroke Centers in late 2009.

Amy is an avid volunteer with the American Heart & Stroke Association and chairs the Nevada State Stroke Committee. She was closely involved in advancing pre-hospital stroke care in Clark County with the implementation EMS destination protocols and mandating stroke education for paramedics.
